September 09 Events

Can you believe its almost fall? The weather is really nice in DC right now, so now is the time to get out and be social at some of the upcoming events.

September 10 – TwestivalDC – Midtown Loft

Social media can really make an impact for social change. A Twestival is meant to motivate Twitter users to Tweet-Up for a good cause. This happy hour will benefit Miriam’s Kitchen. See the home page for more details on how to register, and more information on Miriam’s Kitchen and how you can help!

On last’s night’s 18 and Counting, the famous Duggar Family went to Miriam’s Kitchen to donate their time, money, and many hands to the charity. During the show they noted that donations are down. If you cannot make the DCTwestival, then please think about  donating in kind as well.

Current needs include:

  • men’s jeans
  • unopened bottles of multivitamins
  • new socks
  • unopened sticks of deodorant
  • razors
  • washcloths
  • blankets
  • sleeping bags
  • men’s shoes

Click here to see their full wish list.

Due to space limitations, Miriam’s Kitchen does not accept women’s or children’s clothing and they prefer to receive clothing only when it is appropriate for the current season.

To donate clothing or toiletries, please contact Ashley Lawson, Volunteer and Development Coordinator, at (202) 452-8926 x 227 or ashley@miriamskitchen.org.

In addition to clothing and toiletries, Miriam’s Kitchen also accept some donations of food. Their current wish list includes:
